live differently

217 Church has begun a 50 day "season", beginning Easter Sunday, that will take me and our church to the next level.  Pastor Josh is challenging us to take a long hard look at four areas of our health,

                                                                             spiritual,

   financial (yikes),                                                                                                               physical,

                                                          (my personal favorite) family......

These "seasons" will build on the foundation that is 217 Church.

  • Restore our relationship with God.
  • Rebuild our relationship with our prayer group.
  • Renew our relationship with neighbors, co-workers and community.
I like to think of this as co-creation.  We are creating a new life for ourselves as we hold each other up in prayer and come together weekly in our groups to live differently.

Our "SLICE" model of "growing healthy spiritual lives by building healthy group community" says it all:
Serve the community
Learn together
Invite others
Care and pray for one another
Eat, break bread together...every time we meet ~ we eat!

Who knew ..... when I found 217 Church, that I would not only learn more about my need to love and serve the Lord, but that I would also learn so much more about living life differently!

Thank you Pastor Josh and 217 Church!

"How Important Is It?"

Do you want to turn your attitude around?  A great way to do this is to ask yourself, how important is this thing that is robbing me of my peace and sanity.  When we can look at our situation in a larger context, we realize what we are dealing with is not earth shattering at all.
First, imagine your home, then your town.  Then visualize a larger area, your state, country, the universe.....all of God's creation.  If we look at the vastness of everything we can truly ask ourselves "How important is it?"  The larger our world becomes the more our problems shrink.

So the next time you find yourself anxious over something you probably have no control over anyway.  Remember God told us "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you." John14:27

Have you asked God for his peace and perspective lately?

Pastor's Purpose

Yesterday Pastor Josh spoke of our commitment to serve.  Our mission at  217 Church is to serve relentlessly.  And the entire day, as our Pastor, Josh did so.  He served and inspired us to share our vision and the fulfillment we get from serving others.  And all of the 217 leaders fell into perfect form and served also.  From our morning services, where God moved 83 people to join in our mission to serve, thought the leadership dinner, the fire was burning.  And now over 24 hours later I am still feeling the fire.
Pastor said we have to see a need, sympathise and feel people's pain and then seize the opportunity.
So glad I share this vision to serve in my life, with my family, friend and people God has waiting in the wings.  I share this vision in my work, may passion for helping people to help themselves honor their body and treat it as the miracle God designed it to be.  And in my spiritual life which 217 feeds daily.

Thank you 217 Church.

It Doesn't Take Much!

                                              ~ "I'm comin home, I've done my time." ~

I just can't seem to get this tune out of my head!  I find myself smiling and tearing up over this simple song from a long time ago.....

I remember in the 6th grade I read an article in the Reader's Digest Magazine.

The story was about a man who was returning home after three years of being incarcerated.  He wrote a letter to his honey asking if she still wanted him back. There was one simple thing she had to do if she did.......
It was something I found so moving and I saved that article for years.  Somehow I was touched by the simple concept of wanting to reconnect and asking permission to return.
Years later I heard a song about this same story. I pulled out my tattered article and once again the feelings returned, so simple, so sincere, so sentimental.  And now, after all these years, even though I know the ending, it still brings tears to my eyes and a smile to my heart!

Listen for yourself and share some happiness!

                                               See....I told you...It doesn't take much!

Memories ........ 5 under 6!

Just had the most wonderful weekend at my son Tyler's wedding. The five kids were all "underfoot" again.  This cartoon and the weekend brought back so many memories! Twenty two years ago I brought the twins home (surprise twins at that!) to my 3, 4 and 5 year old!  People would ask "how do you do it" and I would calmly reply "what are my options"?

Mom is Fine Cartoon How are you? I'm fine. What other choice do I have?

A Great Read

I recently read the book "The Age of Miracles" by Marianne Williamson.  I would love to use it as a text book and hold a wellness workshop for women.  So many brilliant passages on living life after........(fill in your blank).  Life experience offers us so much learning and growing that it is only as we progress through these stages and take the time to turn around and look back, that we acknowledge the glorious gals we have become.  Women who can inspire and enchant the generations of ones to come.  Marianne so poignantly reveals this to us in her exquisite writing and passionate prayers throughout the book.
It is truly food for our souls that are no longer starving for purpose but are now excited to live life all over again in the richness of who we have become.
Read on ladies!
